This company does not offer luxury vehicles, but they do offer convertibles. They also have a full range of economy, compact, mid-size, full-size, SUV, minivan and 15-passenger van options. Since their beginning, they have been known to be one of the discount companies with the lowest average daily rates.
History
The EZ Rent A Car company began in 1994 in Florida, based on the idea that leisure travelers tend to rent cars while on vacation in the United States, on a higher average than any other country. Trends were studied for locations where the most cars were rented for leisure travel and EZ Rent A Car began expanding. It was easy for them to spread quickly, as their lower rates attracted thousands of tourists wanting to save money. They also won the hearts of college students who wanted a spring break getaway who were not old enough to rent, thanks to the introduction of their driving program for 18 to 24-year-old renters. In 2009, EZ Rent A Car started offering drivers the option of a Honda hybrid, winning the business of environmentally conscious drivers also. They now have several locations in the United States, as well as Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, St. Maarten, Jamaica, Ireland, UK, New Zealand, Barbados, Hungary and Saint Lucia.
Promotions & Programs
To keep true to their famous name in discounts, EZ Rent A Car has established several money-saving options for their customers. One of the best is their automatic enrollment policy for E-Z Money, their free discount club. It is a members-only club, so all new customers are enrolled and given a free tracking page to view their history and acrrued points. Every time a rental is reserved, paid for and returned, more points accrue. These can be used toward discounts on future purchases, encouraging merchant loyalty. Drivers who will be going to visit a park or college students on campus or, whether friends or parents of them, qualify for a 5% discount when they tell a representative about this. There is also a corporate program that allows business rentals a 5% discount. All interested customers are encouraged to sign up for EZ Rent A Car’s newsletter on their site, as they offer exclusive email-only deals frequently. They also have a wide variety of coupons available. Coupon deals vary from one time to another, but they always have at least two available.
Rental Policies
As mentioned, EZ Rent A Car is one of the few companies that allows drivers under the age of 25 to rent a car. Renters of this age group will not be treated any differently than drivers over 25. While major credit cards are welcomed and accepted, EZ Rent A Car understands that not everyone has a credit card or even wants one. To respect individual choices, they offer the option to use a debit card. Unlike many competitors, they do not perform a credit check. However, they will take a small deposit, which will be refunded upon returning the car in satisfactory condition. The only exception to this is at the LAX location in Los Angeles, California. Due to state law, they are unable to accept debit cards at that specific location. United states drivers will need to have a state-issued driver’s license that is valid. Drivers in foreign country locations will need to have an international driver’s license. Insurance policies can be purchased from EZ Rent A Car for those who have too low of minimums on their own personal insurance or those who do not have auto insurance. Always be sure a personal insurance policy meets minimum requirements of the state in which the rental will be obtained.
